The trend of celebrity boxing doesn’t appear to be going anywhere as an NBA Champion gets set to take on a former teen-pop star. A fight between Lamar Odom and Aaron Carter will headline Celebrity Boxing’s June 12 pay-per-view event.
On paper, the fight seems ridiculous. Odom is a former standout athlete and almost a foot taller than Carter, who best known for his teen pop-rap days and being the brother of Backstreet Boy Nick Carter.
There doesn’t appear to be any major bad blood between Odom and Carter. The latter has said publicly he sees the fight as a David vs. Goliath matchup.
“I just wanna let you guys know that I’m not just a music producer, an entertainer, a singer, a dancer,” Carter said in a video posted on social media. “I’m also a fighter. I grew up street fighting and I’m really looking forward to this match. But my dad always said, ‘the bigger they are the harder they fall.’ So, Lamar, I’ll see you there, bro.”
Odom, meanwhile, has promised a first-round knockout of Carter. Odom, who has worked his way back from addiction, won two NBA Championships with the Kobe Bryant-led Los Angeles Lakers in 2009 and 2010.
