These Kids Today Will Never Experience Real Fun: The World is Different Now

Back in the day, high school was a place filled with fun and excitement. The lunchroom was always buzzing with energy, as we devoured cheeseburgers that we affectionately called "murder burgers." The music was always blasting, and we would often find ourselves dancing, playing the dozens, and banging out beats on the table while we freestyled until the end.

But it wasn't just the food and the music that made high school so memorable. We had the best chocolate chip cookies, almond crunch ice cream, square cheesy pizza, chocolate milk, and tater tots that would make your mouth water. And let's not forget about the talent shows – they were legendary. With a real DJ spinning the tunes, we would showcase our skills and entertain our classmates with our performances.

Looking back, it's funny to think that we didn't even realize that the people walking around the school to make sure we went to class were actually paraprofessionals. It wasn't until years later, when we met one at our child's school, that we made the connection. But back then, all we cared about was having a good time and enjoying the company of our friends.

Double Dutch was a popular pastime, and we would spend hours jumping rope and showing off our skills. We could recite rap songs word for word and would often break out into spontaneous rap and dance ciphers at the drop of a dime. Music was our teacher, and our mentors were the teachers who truly cared about us and wanted us to succeed.

Our parents would miss us when we didn't come home for dinner, and we had a real curfew to abide by. Cell phones didn't exist back then, so if someone wanted to talk to us, they had to call the landline. Respect was something that was earned, and if there was a disagreement, we settled it by throwing up our hands and shooting a fair one – guns were never even a thought.

We would rush home after school to catch our favorite sitcoms like the Cosby Show and would spend Saturday mornings glued to the TV watching cartoons. High school was a time of innocence and joy, where we were free to be ourselves and enjoy the simple pleasures of life.

High school back in the day was a time of laughter, friendship, and learning. It was a time when we were carefree and full of energy, and we made memories that will last a lifetime. Those were the days when life was simpler, and we were able to truly enjoy the moment without the distractions of modern technology. High school will always hold a special place in our hearts, as it was a time of growth, discovery, and endless possibilities.
